As it's been reported for a while now, Georgia wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton, a New Orleans native, is considered to be Brian Kelly's top target to fill the same role in Baton Rouge, according to a morning report by Football Scoop. If the move is going to happen, one would think it could be as soon as the next few days as Georgia plays Alabama tonight for the national championship.

Football Scoop is also reporting that Kelly plans on bringing in his former OL coach at Notre Dame, Jeff Quinn, in an offensive analyst role.

A source tells me that Kelly has retained offensive analyst Carter Sheridan, also a New Orleans native, who has spent his time at LSU working with the wide receivers under Mickey Joseph. After Joseph took the job at Nebraska, Sheridan was tasked with getting the WR room ready for the bowl game against Kansas State. Like Hankton, he is a graduate of St. Aug in New Orleans.

Sheridan, who has previously coached with the Saints and Tulane, seems to be one of few on the old staff that was retained. I've also confirmed that defensive analyst Jake Olsen, who worked with Blake Baker and the linebackers, will not be part of Kelly's staff.

A few additional names sticking around though: Jon Randall Belton, Director of Scouting; Will Redmond, Director of Personnel Research & Strategy; and Mason Smith, Recruiting Specialist. Plus, as Jimmy reported yesterday, adding Jordan Arcement to the recruiting staff which makes for quite the young, but experienced group with plenty of ties across Louisiana and carries weight with some recruits and families.

Sources also tell TigerDetails to also keep an eye on Sherman Wilson, the Director of Football Recruiting at Louisiana Tech, as a potential add to the staff, which would be quite impressive to add Wilson to the already deep Louisiana ties on staff.

Early Enrollees arriving Saturday to LSU:
-- Walker Howard
-- Will Campbell
-- Quency Wiggins
-- Fitzgerald West
-- Demario Tolan
-- Miles Frazier

The players will arrive Saturday afternoon and immediately be tested for Covid before getting checked-in and moving in. There's an entire schedule packed for Sunday with meetings with just about every part of college football life from picking up their textbooks to meeting with compliance and Doug Aucoin for a technology review and much more. On Sunday after breakfast, the new enrollees will have a meeting with Brian Kelly followed by Jake Flint, Dr. Matt Frakes and Beau Lowery.
