  • No injury updates. They're pretty healthy and the goal is to get through this weekend unscathed.
  • Says everything that Michael Braswell has done has stood out to him. He's been very open to coaching and has done everything they've asked of him.
  • Jake Brown hit a homer over the bleachers on Monday. He's been really good against lefties and a left handed batter. He's getting a lot of reps against quality pitching and he's liked how he's responding to those.
  • Thinks Josh Pearsons awareness as a hitter is very good. He'll play second and outfield in practice so he's ready to go wherever they need him.
  • Calls Ashton Larson a "baseball guy." Thinks he has a great future here and is impressed with how quickly he's picked first base up.
  • Calls all the freshman "Miles ahead of where they were in the fall."
  • Thinks this team has done a great job of making everyday important. They treat every practice like it's their last, and that's something he wants to see from his guys.
  • Says they have five guys who could be the Friday starter. Griffin Herring could make his way to a weekend starting role.
  • Calls his staff "the luckiest group of pitchers" because they've gotten coached by both Wes Johnson and Nate Yeskie. Thinks they're two of the best pitching coaches in the nation.
  • Won't name a Friday start soon. They don't know who yet, but should narrow it down by midweek.
  • Doesn't think he's ever had the sheer amount of lefties that they have this season.
  • Said there were a lot of guys from last season that he felt were ready to move to pro ball, but felt Hayden Travinski should come back because there was more for him to do. He's been injured a lot and told him this can be his season if he returns.
  • Thinks Tommy is feeling well. He's been hitting and fielding really well and should have no limitations. Same with Gage Jump, he's feeling good and they're ramping him up each week.
Hayden Travinski
  • They're very ready to play someone else. It's hard to face the same guys every day, so they want to play some new competition.
  • Thinks the pitching staff has a lot of depth and everyone's healthy. Says the talents there, so they just need to go out and have fun.
  • Says the first time he caught for Thatcher Hurd he thought to himself "what the hell is this?" says he couldn't even catch the ball.
  • Likes what he's seen from Jake Brown. Says he's very mature and handles himself well. Says he's a sneaky athlete too.
  • He's thankful that Jay wanted him to come back. He loves this program and is really excited to be healthy for the full season.
  • Says this staff is as diverse as it's been since he got here. They have righties, lefties and a plethora of guys who can throw different pitches.
Griffin Herring
  • Says working with Coach Yeskie has been awesome. Says he and Johnson have different coaching styles, Yeskie is a bit more old school, but it's been great thus far.
  • Thinks the competition between this staff has been great. When you have the group that they have, there's only a certain amount of roles, but nobodies worried about their role, they just want to be effective when they're out there.
  • Calls Braswell a "hard out." It's hard to get him to chase, so you have to challenge him in the zone.
  • Says a lot of the guys have told him he has a very good low fastball, so he's been trying to work on getting his fastball to run higher to be more versatile.
Jake Brown
  • Excited for the season to start. Competition has been great so far, but they're excited to play someone else.
  • Thinks his outfield skills have taken a big step. He pitched a lot in high school, but will be mainly a fielder this season.
  • Says he's been balancing his work as a fielder and pitcher just in case they need him on the mound this year.
  • It was eye opening when he got here because he never faced guys that can throw 100MPH.
  • Being from Louisiana, it's special for him to wear the purple and gold.
  • The young guys like to have some fun with Hayden Travinski and Alex Milazzo. Says they ask them how their knees are everyday.
  • Says he saw one pitch from Thatcher Hurd and was like "alright, I'm at LSU now, this is what it's going to be like."
