  • Says tackling is the hardest thing to simulate for the first game. They want to get everyone there healthy, so you don't want to go too hard, but you need to practice it. Also mentions special teams.
  • Payton Todd will be the holder this season. Says they'll use both Blake and Payton at punter this year. They want to be able to do the Aussie style punting, and Blake has done that so they want to use him when they feel necessary. Todd is a more in-line punter like Bramblett was.
  • Says Aussie style punting allows you to make it easier to handle some punt blocking schemes. You can kind of ignore the back end and not have to worry about it. Also, it makes it easier to target an outside third of the field to limit explosive returners.
  • Says both AJ Swann and Rickie Collins are 2A and 2B. They have different skill sets, and they'll utilize both of them to "give us the best No. 2 situation."
  • They've seen a lot of air raid offenses over the years. Says Lincoln Riley uses the TE more than most air raid offenses, which also gives them the option to run if you're overloading the pass.
  • Miles Frazier is good to go, he's practiced all week. Chris Hilton is still going through the motions, but isn't there yet.
  • He voted for the new SEC rule that teams have to announce player injuries prior to games. They don't have to announce what the injury is, but they have to provide updates on their injured players.
  • Says he can make any pregame routine work, but his job is to have his team ready to play. Gov. Landry wants to have the players on the field during the national anthem, and he says if he has to, he'll find a way to work it in.
  • There won't be too many freshman on the field offensively this Sunday, but thinks there are some defenders who could see the field. Says Ahmad Breaux will see the field, he's the most ready freshman. PJ Woodland is also someone who could see the field.
  • He's excited for the new video boards because he thinks it'll help the game experience. Instead of having to look at your phone for stats, scores, etc, you can just look up and get all your information. Says when people are constantly on their phones, it takes away from the game day atmosphere.
  • There are a number of players on this team that have played through the last two openers, so their preparation for this game has been outstanding. They don't want to lose another opener.
