I've been waiting for someone more knowledgeable than me on MLB to comment on this, but haven't seen it yet, although I could have missed it. But wondering how many others read about the 11-year-old kid in Los Angeles who pulled the redemption card for the one-of-a-kind Paul Skenes Rookie Patch card out of one of the special boxes that they were selling with the understanding that the card was in one of them.

Has been a lot of stuff going on related to it--including an offer from the Pirates of season tickets somewhere behind the plate for 30 years. And Livvy Dunne has offered for him to come out and join her in her box for a game if he'd accept the Pirates offer. But it looks like now it will go to auction for several hundred thousand dollars (at least). My reading about it has been in The Athletic, and it's pretty wild stuff. I had no idea.........

The parents, btw, have gone to great lengths to keep the family's identity secret. But the kid was definitely a fan, and the box of cards was the only thing he wanted for Christmas. And he knew who Skenes was and what the redemption card was when he pulled it.

Amazing stuff. Skenes' card is one of the most sought after in years, for a variety of reasons. I was really stunned to read about it.
