After Dave Aranda was hired , thousands of words were printed by the LSU faithful discussing the change from 4-3 to 3-4 . Did LSU have the proper personnel in place .? Would the players catch on the first year ? Would it take a few games to reach peak efficiency?
Low and behold in 2016 the much anticipated 3-4 was rarely seen . Instead Arden Key returned to his more familiar DE position in essence going back to the 4-3.
Questions for the board : did Aranda feel that we lacked the type of DL and LBs to implement the 3-4 scheme .? Or did he feel that Key could be more productive with his hand in the dirt not having to cover backs on pass routes . What about 2017 ? Will it be 3-4 or 4-3 ?
