July was full of fireworks as the Tigers saw a string of 10 commitments jump onboard during the month. August looks to be another big month for Brian Kelly and Co., especially within the state.
Wide receiver Shelton Sampson is set to announce on August 6, and while Texas A&M and others are fighting for his services, it looks like LSU is in the best position to land his pledge. Julie and I dropped FutureCast to LSU on July 10 for Sampson and all signs are still pointing us in that direction.
Zachary safety Kylin Jackson is also getting close and this one feels like LSU as well. Jackson and Sampson were in College Station this weekend, and A&M will be a player for both, but like Sampson, all signs are pointing us in LSU's direction with Jackson. Prean has been an LSU lean for some time and it feels like the time to announce could be rapidly approaching. After spending some time with Prean last month it became clear that he was getting closer to shutting things down and multiple sources keep saying LSU is in the lead. Auburn and Mississippi State are lurking in the shadows, but this one feels like all LSU at the moment. The red light is blinking *wink and Julie is all over it.
Zalance Heard could be the next offensive line domino to fall and this one is feeling like LSU as well. I dropped a FutureCast on July 4 after it became clear that LSU was in a strong position and Heard could be nearing the end of his recruiting process. It does not appear that he has a scheduled date, but I would be surprised if his recruitment stretched beyond this month and would be even more surprised if it was someone other than LSU.
