I know, pure speculation for fun, but just watched a slomo from behind and by golly, there was a gap between the outside blitzer left, and the DL left (briefly) and the right QB (JD) with a quick read and a hard cut left might well have made it. The snap didnt' help, but the read was poor, he ran right into the stack.
