For the past few weeks, I read from most of the posters that LSU was going to end of the streak and beat Alabama convincingly. That was false optimism.
Today, I read where LSU will never beat Alabama again and that the program is in a serious decline.
Does there happen to be a whole new group of posters? No. It's just not as good as people thought it was and today it is not as bad as people think it is. It is some where in the middle. This team can still win out and go to the Sugar Bowl and end up at 11-1 and end up in the Top 10 and possibly the Top 5. They could also tank and end up and at 7-4 or 8-3. It depends on what this team is made of.
I personally think they end up 9-2 and end up in the Capital One Bowl against Michigan State or Michigan. Leonard Fournette will be a good drawing card for a bowl match up if LSu isn't seeded in the Access Bowls.
To give credit, there were some who warned that what happened last night
Could happen, but the overwhelming majority thought LSU would win. For the record, I said I didn't have a clue.
If LSU can end up 11-1 or 10-2 with a bowl win and hold and build on their recruiting class together this year, they set up nicely for the future. The 2 classes before 2014 were not up to past standards. The last two have brought some talented offensive linemen, receivers, running backs, and defensive backs in. They need to bring in the defensive line men and linebackers this cycle. I think LSU has better recruiters now on staff and it will start to show more in the future.
As much as they need to keep
Recruiting, they also need to not have busts like Travonte Valentine and Cliffton Garrett. They could have used them at the potential they were projected last night as well as Marqedius Bain.
Look in 2012 and 2014, LSU had Alabama on the ropes and let them slip through. How might perception be today if LSU had won those games even with last night's loss?
Two important people that LSU must hold are Felipe Franks this year and Dylan Moses next year.
The sky is not falling, it's just a bad thunderstorm.
