In years past at this time the SEC powers in football have dominated the top 10 polls. Not any more being replaced by the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, and a surging Penn State. While I see Alabama as the better team nationally what has happen to the SEC in football? My answer below.
A couple things. First Nick Saban has now dominated the SEC to a point that coaches are being fired for not being able to beat him and he has taken the shine off the other teams. The shine off the other teams has caused recruits to flock to Bama and maybe other teams creating a scatter of talent. The second thing that has happen is a poor coaching pool in the SEC. Not sure why but maybe the not want to face Saban deal.
But primarily Saban even with the 25 scholarship rule in place has out talented, out developed, and out coached everyone by a mile. All with what he calls the "process".
I don't see much changing. Poor Auburn recruiting in same state and geographic area. Kirby at Georgia will be fired in a couple years as will Muschamp at SC. Sumlin probably going after next year. Mullins would go if he found something. Ole Miss and Freeze in bad condition. I can see McElwain being fired in a couple to three years. Butch at Tennessee could be out. Wow wow wow. Pretty depressing for SEC fans.
As we can see Orgeron will either fall in the victim line or will he emerge as someone that can compete with Bama. The odds are against him as it is against everyone at the current time. Usually a great team like Bama makes everyone better. In this case I believe it has resulted in an SEC meltdown. Not good for the overall SEC football fans.
