After a real strong Saturday, the Sheet is doing OK so far this bowl season. 10-8 (4-2 on Sat.) against the spread and 13-5 (5-1 on Sat) on the over/under.

Today's games

Pittsburgh scores 22.9 with total yds of 352
Navy scores 29.1 with total yds of 360

Central Mich. scores 24.4 with total yds of 356
Minnesota scores 20.8 with total yds of 321

Minnesota opened as a 5.5 point favorite so that call is a bit of a surprise and although my scores are based on relative performance against who they played, maybe the schedules don't interact enough to get a fair reading. However it is notable that Minnesota, in its 3 games against mid-majors from similar or the same conference as Central Mich. didn't dominate and didn't cover 5.5 points. the Gophers beat Kent St. 10-7, Ohio 27-24 and Colorado St. 23-20. Minnesota only beat two teams by more than 5.5, Illinois 32-23 and Purdue 41-13. They lost or won by less in all other games.

Kent St. is the only common opponent and Central Mich. won that one 27-14. Central Mich wasn't swamped by Michigan St. 10-30 or Oklahoma St. 13-24 and gave Syracuse a decent game at 27-30 in their matchups with Power 5 conference teams. The Gophers are certainly closer to being Orangemen than Cowboys or Spartans.

So maybe the pick isn't such a surprise. The line has moved from open at 5.5 to 4.5 and 5 depending on who you are asking, so it appears bettors saw the same thing.
