I just saw the 2001 SECCG between TN and LSU. Rohan Davey was injured early on. Matt Mauck came on and played brilliantly and won the game at QB. Matt was somewhat better than average in skills and it was his first year back after playing professional baseball for 3-4 years. He was, however a bright kid and picked up the offense, but I would say if anything he was less experienced at that time than Brennan. But he handled the team and won the game.
You couldn’t say Mauck’s success was due to his experience at playing or was it due to him being unusually skillful. Of course he had to be somewhat skillful. The one factor he had was a lot of was maturity. Maturity is a factor that stabilizes performance and gives you a different attitude and determination to things well and win. I think maturity was one of the assets that Burrow also had that madenk him successful.
I think Brennan in his 4th year. He has has shown up with a lot of maturity in his interviews and way he he has become a leader in the offense. In addition Brennan has a lot of excellent football skills, maybe better than Burrow or Mauck.. I think his maturity will shine and he will have a tremendous year, far better than inspected because of his maturity.
