So the local school district is starting their football program back up for JRHS and elementary kids in my neighborhood. I live in most likely 1 or the worst locations in the Portland just due to the circumstances up here. LIve a couple blocks from the schools. Anyways, they put a posting out for paid coaches and volunteers. I dont have the time for a paid gig but am more than capable in a support role. I've been chatting with the HS head coach and he is wanting to bring me onboard and figure it out.
Here's the question, I played back in the 70's, early 80's, was around the HS when my daughter was in school, over 10yrs ago. I've got concerns about being able to relate to some in this age group and how adult mentors need to approach these relationships differently these days, in comparison to when i played.
Anybody out there do anything like this that could provide some of their experiences? I've got concerns that i should probably express to the coach for his thoughts, I suppose before i jump into anything.
