Threw together some basic rankings for the eight teams that made it to the CWS, just for comparison's sake. Its important to realize that while we have a pretty big sample size (the entire season and the post-season thus far), most of these teams have very, very few common opponents. The Big 12 for instance was way down this year and the SEC, by virtue of fielding half of the teams in contention, was obviously way up.

Batting Average:
1) .316 LSU

2) .311 Miami
3) .299 Florida
4) .295 Vanderbilt
5t) .289 Arkansas
5t) .289 TCU
7) .273 Virginia
8) .265 CS-Fullerton

ERA:
1) 2.38 TCU
2t) 2.84 CS-Fullerton
2t) 2.84 LSU
4) 2.96 Vanderbilt
5) 3.02 Miami
6) 3.22 Florida
7) 3.52 Virginia
8) 4.06 Arkansas

Fielding %:
1) .985 Florida
2t) .978 TCU
2t) .978 Vanderbilt
4) .977 LSU
5) .976 Arkansas
6) .971 Miami
7) .969 Virginia
8) .968 CS-Fullerton

Steals/game:
1) 2.00 LSU

2) 1.89 TCU
3) 1.55 Vanderbilt
4) 1.38 Miami
5) 1.22 Florida
6) 1.10 CS-Fullerton
7) 0.84 Arkansas
8) 0.62 Virginia

A couple of things jump out at me - the first being that you can really tell how hot Arky is playing right now, considering how consistently low they are in the rankings season-long. The second is that if LSU has any clear advantage, its their speed and aggressiveness on the base paths. Well, that and how well-rounded the team is. They're one less error away from being in the top 2 in all four categories.

If there are any other numbers you guys want, let me know.
