I've long since gotten over a kid decommiting. It used to bother me for all the obvious reasons.
I've since come to realize that they think that by decommiting they can bring missing attention to themselves . Uncommitted prospects are inundated with questions and attention from friends , neighbors and college recruiters . All things that stop once he commits. He notes all the attention that his good friend , the non commit is getting and says I'd like that to.

Otherwise what possible benefit could come from decommiting .if he wanted to continue to enjoy the recruiting process or needed more time to consider other teams he could just as easily do so without bringing the scorn upon himself that a decommitment causes.

All teenagers call it playing hard to get, something that's been going on since boy met girl.

Sometimes that decommit is because the team " strongly encouraged " him to look around. ( not the case with Sullivan) .
