It has been years since I was so happy for a player as I was for Duke and his play Saturday night. After rewatching the game multiple of times as if I was a coach or something to see him make play after play after play of the magnitude was just awesome.
As a former player at Curtis I spoke to the Curtis team before the State Championship game his senior year. To this day that team was the best high school team I have ever watch play. They won the State and was ranked number 1 in the Nation by all polls. As a member of the first State Championship team at Curtis in 1975 it was great seeing Duke back then with that contagious good looking smile and his energy. At that time no tattoos. And man could he run and cover the field from side line to side line he and Young (now UCLA).
So if you guys get to rewatch the game watch this kid elude blockers and hide behind his DL and then fill the hole and make tackles then fly laterally on many plays running guys down. Iam very proud of him today. And frankly I doubted his ability due to lack of size but not today. Amazing and satisfying to see what I whitnessed.
