I think everyone on this board can agree on one thing. LSU HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN A LONG TIME GETTING A QB THAT CAN PERFORM AT THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP STAGE. It has been bust after bust and bad evualating of QB talent. No consistency in types of skill sets required "all may apply". Share with me your thoughts why. Here are my thoughts and Iam just looking at the last 11 years.
1. Perception of LSU offense for a QB is poor. The perception has been we are a run oriented team and we don't play in a fun offense. And I say this is perception because the pro style system produces way more NFL QB's than the Fun and Gun offenses. And while we say this LSU has produced super WR's that are record breaking in the league.
2. If you look at the LSU Offensive Coordinators in that time period none of them are what you can call successful today. Good Coordinators are in demand and the coaches know who they are and the LSU graveyard of OC's are not winning championships at any level. It can be debated why our Coordinators were not successful. For the sake of the few I won't give my thoughts on that.
3. The State of Louisiana has not produced great QB's of late. In the so so modern era you have the great Manning boys but either went to LSU. In today's recruiting World all championship quality programs recruit QB's on a national basis. It could be said LSU has not recruited very well a QB nationally.
4. Maybe poor evualation of QB's. Long list of misses. These misses in some cases left the program and were not very good at other locations such as Rivers, Jennings, etc.
5. Poor development of QB's.
6. Poor offensive schemes.
Canada comes into LSU with some fanfare. Seems to be fun to play for. I do believe when the fall gets here it will be a Canada offense and not an Orgeron offense. Am I excited as a fool or do I have the reason to be honestly excited. Will I be disappointed again in how we use the great skills of Louisiana bred talent. Something tells me we will be happy about the hire of Canada. But I said the same with Cam Cameron. Ohhhh but we still had Miles. Sorry guys the "devil made me do it".
