If you look at all the write ups on recruits, you will find Alabama, Auburn, LSU, USC, Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Florida State on almost every potential name of top 250 in the class. Since the Chavis departure, CLM has apparently added emphasis on recruitment. First he hired Steele and Orgeron who are noted recruiters. Now, the WR coaching slot is open and CLM is asking that every applicant be well versed and committed to recruiting even before his other coaching credentials are submitted. Supposedly, one reason to bring on BDP, for Special Teams , was his ability to recruit. It may be that in this day and time, any D1 CFB program that expects to be in the playoffs must be highly committed to recruiting. Being good is no longer enough to win championships. Only A&M (among this group) has not produced a national champion to date. While A&M has had its defensive challenges and LSU has had its QB issues recently, this group of schools is obviously the elite--admittedly with a few challengers--among CFB today.
