Guys - 2020 has had its challenges indeed. However, for the first time since the championship game, the Tigers are back on the field and we can enjoy a Saturday game. Only 10 of them, but 10 is better than zero.
We broke in - what? 19 new starters yesterday? A new QB? JUCO/FCS transfers? Several true freshman starters. Oh, and all of these new faces didn't get a spring, and got a VERY different version of fall camp. Didn't we also hear that players were often in and out due to COVID? Let's not forget a new defensive scheme.
So those same challenges existed for every team, yes. However, Miss St had a lot more experience on their side yesterday. A QB that has played more quarters than Brennan had pass attempts going into yesterday's game. The guy has 800 attempts over three seasons. Brennan had 70 going into yesterday's game. That counts for a lot. Especially when combined with the above.
We have 9 more games to watch, probably 10. Enjoy them. Enjoy watching these young players develop and improve. Enjoy spending a Saturday watching the Tigers play football and taking your mind off of politics, COVID, etc. for a few hours. This team has TALENT. Most of it is still wet behind the ears, but this team has the potential to be a juggernaut late in the season and rolling into next. I can't wait to enjoy the next few games and see how we do. If we finish the season 4-6 with no improvement, yeah - I'll probably join in on the complaining and skepticism. But to jump to that right now is to make yourself unnecessarily negative. Don't program yourself to bitch under the disguise of "I expect the team to perform to its capability". Because yesterday, it did perform to its actual, current capability. Just not its full potential capability that will be realized in the future.
Or - you can be angry. Frustrated. A victim of your own unreasonable expectations that weren't met. Rant about Ensminger, Brady, Burrow, Chase, blah blah blah. We have all chosen to watch a game that is built around the psychological performance of 18-20 year old kids, keep it in perspective. To each his own I guess.
