Hoping we can keep Coach Aranda around for 2 or 3 yrs but the chances of that may be slim & none!

From Adam Rittenburg a staff writer for ESPN

Five years ago, Tom Herman was Iowa State's offensive coordinator. Mark Helfrich and Jim McElwain held the same posts at Oregon and Alabama, respectively.

With the season right around the corner, it's time to get smart about the coordinators who soon could jump to major FBS head-coaching positions. In interviews with agents, administrators and other plugged-in sources, these 12 candidates are viewed as being right on the doorstep.

Dave Aranda
Position:
Defensive coordinator
School: LSU
Age: 39

Aranda has quickly vaulted from a little-known coordinator at outposts Hawaii and Utah State to one of the game's top defensive minds. He was masterful at Wisconsin, which led the FBS in fewest points allowed in 2015 and finished in the top-seven in all three seasons he coached there. Aranda will work with elite talent at LSU, a potential national title contender. He has geographic diversity after working in the West, Midwest and now South. With another strong season, he should be considered for openings, especially in the Mountain West or possibly Pac-12.

Others on the list:

Mike Bloomgren OC Stanford
Gene Chizik DC UNC
Geoff Collins DC Florida
Tim Drevno OC Mich
Dan Enos OC Arkansas
Lane Kiffin OC Alabama
Doug Meacham OC TCU
Lincoln Riley OC Oklahoma
Mike Sanford OC Notre Dame
Greg Shiano DC tOSU
Bob Shoop DC Tenn.
