Gents, even though this is a historically bad 2-18 Auburn, this is just what the doctor ordered and still two wins in a row against a competitive SEC rival. We have improved to 11th in the SEC and a win today would have us just a game away from being tied for 9th.
In the first two games, our pitchers allowed only 1 earned run, 5 hits, 5 walks, 22 Ks, and an ERA of 0.50. Damn! Can I get an Amen to that!
Our batters were better than it may have looked at times, going 19 for 66 (.288) with 4 home runs and 4 doubles.
We need to get this sweep today; every game is as critical as the wins in that 2008 streak that led us to the 2008 CWS! We have now improved to 28-16 and more importantly, 7-13 in conference play and our RPI stands at #35. We are still on the outside looking in, but our chances are improving so let’s breakdown our three remaining series based on a win today (improve to 8-13).
May 3rd to May 5th
vs A&M. Need to get at least a win, go to 9 and 15. Man, if we could get two wins here...
May 10th to May 12th
@ Alabama. Need to win 2 of 3, improve 11 and 16.
May 16th to May 18th
vs Ole Miss. Need to win 2 of 3, improve 13 and 17.
Finish the season 5-4 in conference play (and beat Grambling / Northwestern) and we are are 36-20 (13-17) and we have a good chance to make a regional as we are the defending champs and a great draw anywhere we play (all this matters). A win or two in the SEC tournament would likely cinch it. If we make a regional, we are still LSU and anything can happen. Geaux Tigers!
Game 3
Sunday, April 28 @ 1:00 p.m. CT (SEC Network+, LSU Sports Radio, Z98, and Teddy Ruxpin YouTube Channel)
AU – Jr. LH Carson Myers (2-3, 3.72 ERA, 38.2 IP, 19 BB, 29 SO)
LSU – Ackenhausen is out. My guess is Kade Anderson (4-1, 2.97 ERA, 45 Ks) gets the start with Griffin Herring (3-0, 2.12 ERA, 43 Ks) first man out of the bullpen. I like this.
Best guess at our line up tonight:
1) CF Paxton Kling (.211 BA, 1 HR, 19 RBIs) or Mac Bingham (.277 BA, 8 HRs, 23 RBIs)
2) RF Ashton Larson (.370, 3 HRs, 11 RBIs)
3) 3B Tommy White (.341 BA, 17 HRs, 43 RBIs)
4) 1B Jared Jones (.298 BA, 19 HRs, 40 RBIs)
5) LF Josh Pearson (.248 BA, 6 HRs, 16 RBIs)
6) DH Hayden Travinski (.293 BA, 13 HRs, 40 RBIs)
7) SS Michael Braswell (.315 BA, 1 HR, 22 RBIs)
8) 2B Steven Milam (.291 BA, 2 HRs, 22 RBIs)
9) C Alex Milazzo (.269 BA, 0 HRs, 7 RBIs) or Brady Neal (.256 BA, 6 HRs, 21 RBIs)
gents, any thoughts to by projected scenario?
