What I glean from this: A strategy of a homegrown upper classman vs a free agent, and let the younger guys mature. This a strategy being borne of being in the mix each year, to optimize the chance to win it all, not betting the farm on the homegrown guy, but rather, let 'em fight it out. Pretty clever and within the rules. Can assume that barring a very unique circumstance, the youngsters won't be in the mix. Would seem to work best if only used on senior transfers (not Coker types), to prevent threatening the younger guys who are on track but just young. With so many available these days, expect the trend to continue.
