LSU's dominant 2019 season appeared to conclude Jan. 13 in New Orleans by handily defeating Clemson, 42-25, to claim the national championship.
But that historic group of Tigers has continued to set new records Thursday and Friday as the 2020 NFL Draft kicked off with its early rounds.
Five draftees in Thursday's first round marked the highest in school history and just one shy of Miami's national-record six in 2004.
Another five now-former LSU stars followed suit in Friday's second and third rounds to mark the most players the school has had selected in any NFL draft, as well as the most selections any school has had in the first three rounds of any draft.
With a slew of other Tigers still remaining on the board, the program enters Saturday's final day of the draft well within striking distance for even more history. Two more draftees would match Alabama's SEC-record 12 selections in one draft in 2018. Another four would match Ohio State's national-record 14 chosen in 2004.
That success has also led the SEC to new heights with 15 first-round picks and 40 picks in the first three rounds marking the most ever from any conference in one draft. The SEC is 24 more draftees shy of the overall record for most selections in one draft.
Round 4 starts at 11 a.m.
