uber conservative shit show in the second half of last night's game to one thing. Coach Miles has a ridiculously over the top inability to trust a quarterback.
Ever since Jarrett Lee threw all those pick sixes, Miles has coached the same way every year... Don't let the quarterback free. Don't let him lose the game. He did it with Jordan Jeffersom (maybe right there, I never trusted him to make a play with his arm either), did it the second coming of Jarrett Lee (cost us a fourth NC and third crystal ball), did it with Zachary Mettenburger his first year and did it last year. Until the quarterback demonstrates to the nth degree that Miles can trust him not to turn the ball over, it a NO THROW ZONE.
Don't take this wrong, I hate the philosophy, I'd rather let a young guy make some mistakes and if he loses us a game or two so wahat, he will be better in the end. But, Miles and company are so afraid of losing games, that the training wheels stay on toooooooo long. I fully believe Miles would rather a loss be on him and his ridicously stubborn run game, than on the quarterback. That philosophy is crippling the young quarterbacks. I think Mett progressed because he had an I don't give an f attitude. He was gonna sling it. Remember when he took off running and rubbed it in Ole Miss' face. Coach Miles got pissed at him.
Brandon Harris showed glimpses of brilliance last night. But we threw a blanket on him. And for that I call Bullshit!
