For you recruitniks and stat freaks like me, here are some interesting numbers from recruiting day. If one takes the 247 top 50 and weighs the recruits at 50 pts for #1, 49 pts for #2, ... 1 pt for #50, one gets some results.
All but one team in the SEC west, Tx A&M, signed at least one player in the top 50. Only UF and UGA in the SEC east signed any top 50 players.
Here are the weighted rankings based on only the top 50.
.....Team..........T50........Score
1. Ole Miss........4............135
2. Georgia.........3............123
3. Alabama........4............103
4. Auburn..........4..............78
5. LSU..............3..............58
6. Florida..........3..............49
7. Arkansas......1..............33
8. Miss St.........1..............32
LSU has the privelege of playing all but one, Georgia. Auburn has the same privelege except they skip Florida.
To illustrate, while interesting, how unreliable this scoring is, Michigan signed only 2 top 50 players. But because 1 was the #1 player, their point total is 62. As I said in the title line, interesting but meaningless,
