Don't know how many of y'all have seen this kid play, but I got to see him in the playoff game between Byrd and Landry-Walker in Shreveport a couple Fridays ago.

The kid was almost unstoppable. Absolutely one of the best overall athletes I've seen for a while. He threw for something like 249 yards and ran for 117, for a total of 366 yards. Accounted for 6 TDs (3 passing and 3 rushing - one for 34 yards), and this was against a very good Byrd defense, which had been giving up only a little over 200 yds a game against very strong competition. Byrd was missing their top safety to injury (an all-state quality kid in his own right) which helped L-W, but Thompson was a sight to behold. Lots of presence, poise and just a great sense of where he was and what was happening around him. Really hard to tackle, big and strong and slippery.

Don't know how all the coaching issues is going to affect our ability to get a kid that looks like him, but hope we're in the mix. He could be a great addition coming along at the right time. Looks like he's getting a lot of attention from a lot of other schools. Hope his grades are good.

I'm afraid all the turmoil, especially if it spills over into this next year, is likely going to negatively affect getting the best of that '17 class.
