Did anyone read the last NCAA statement on Will Wade and LSU? It is about as weird of a statement as I have ever seen. They start out talking about that they have information that Will Wade made “impermissible offers” to 11 recruits. Then it slobbers around and says that they may have to turn it over to a committee who will review it and tell them whether or not to charge LSU and Wade. Right there they say silently that the information they have is hearsay and not real evidence of misconduct. If they had found any cash evidence of the offers they would not be asking any committee whether they should charge LSU and Wade. They would just do it.
IMO this last action by the NCAA is an effort to get LSU to fire Wade and they would come down lightly on LSU. But if LSU fires Wade they will have a huge buyout to pay plus lose a lot of powerful alumni support. So they want LSU to give them information to charge them and Wade so LSU will not have to payout anything to Wade and actually get a little money back. I believe any penalty against LSU would be light. But I’m not sure LSU has any evidence against Wade or they might have given it to them to end this matter with a light penalty.
So this is a 3 party dance. The NCAA wants to get Wade out of the system, LSU may actually like the idea, too. but neither can’t find anything on Wade other than hearsay “impermissible offers”. But Wade is leading the other 2 parties in the dance. This is an effort to get LSU to rat Wade out if they have any evidence.
I don’t think any coach has ever had both a school and the NCAA in this position before. It’s an original.
I also like what Dawkins said. Wade is amazing. He kept his job and is getting away with it, or some thing similar.
My interpretation anyway.
