When you look at our Defense going into the season I was concerned about our DE's and LB's. At this point in the season and being 6-0 here is my take.
Defensive Ends: Neal has been a surprise. Playing way better than I dreamed he could. Bower has been solid when not injured. Key is going to be great but not an every down player at this stage as he admitted. We do not seem to have much SEC quality depth besides these three. Very thin.
Linebackers: The thinnest group on the team. Take away Beckwith and Jones and not much other SEC Championship quality behind them. Jones is gone after the season and we need to pray Beckwith comes back. Scary.
The coaches are doing great. Injuries have been minimal. Both of these things helping in these two areas. Our Special Teams play has a lot of problems but usually kick coverage is filled with second team LB's and our lack of these players are not helping in coverage. Part of the ST problem.
