- VMI was 4th in country in hitting last year and returned everyone.
- Said this was not a surprise, they knew it would be a hard fought game.
- Felt Hurd was perfect for 8 hitters.
- They were ready for VMIs steal attempts. Said they got them out 4 times in attempts.
- Thought Ackenhausen was good. Said he doesn’t know how that guy hit a Homer in that first inning because it was a good pitch.
- Thought the middle of it their lineup was great today.
- Says Gage was “pretty good”. They don’t know if he’ll stay in that closer role.
- Thought Braswell put down a good bunt that set up some runs. Said Sam Dutton came in and gave them some nice work.
- Thought Jake Brown was great. Said he wanted to get his first college hit out of the way with a hit on his first pitch.
- Thought everyone contributed from an offensive stand point.
- They were trying to have Jump throw two innings, but they wanted to be smart about it. Don’t know if they’ll use him again this weekend.
- Thinks Paxton is a special center fielder. Thinks Jake Brown will be a center fielder at some point here in the future.
- Thought the 11-8 win did more for them than winning 13-0 would’ve.
- Felt he should’ve gotten Nate out of the game before the 8th inning, but he didn’t.
- He was a little ticked off in the first inning, but after that he felt his offense was good.
- Said Dylan Crews was nervous for his first pitch. Says he didn’t know why because he’s good at everything. Also calls him the best college position player ever.
- Felt his fastball and slider were working well. Had control over his FB today.
- Calls VMI a veteran lineup. Says can’t take anyone for granted.
- Thinks they’re gonna get everyone’s best, but they just look at it as another game.
- Says Gage Jump is gonna be dominant. He was in the training room when he was throwing, but said he saw some of his outing.
- Said it was a lot of fun playing at Alex Box. Never seen a crowd like this.
- Felt VMI made good pitches. It took a while to adjust, but they did and picked the right pitches to swing at.
- Thought his fly out to center was gonna be a hit, but VMI made a great play.
- Calls VMI a great older team, and they came out swinging.
- Says he’s never seen 5 HBP in a single inning.
- Calls Nate a really confident pitcher. He knows his strengths and pitched towards them.
- Says Kling “runs like a deep” and he can be a very good defender for them.
- He’s very comfortable in left field. Played center the last couple years, but is getting used to left again.
- Said Gage had an awesome fall and has been pounding it. He faced him his freshman season at UCLA.
