Matt McMahon
  • Thought there were a lot of lessons to learn from tonight, but he's excited they won. Alabama State's guards kicked their butt in the first half, but thought they came back out in the second half well.
  • Thought they played with more pride in the second half, especially defensively.
  • Alabama State did a great job defensively on the arc in the first half, but thought they were able to create better opportunities in the second half by getting to the rim more often.
  • Said Jalen Reed was struggling with some cramping today, so that's why he didn't play too much.
  • Thought FT shooting was the key to the game. They shot 50% in the first half, but finished shooting 18-20 in the second half, which helped them crawl back into it.
  • Was proud of Sears for flipping a switch in the second half after a poor first half. Thought him getting to the line 11 times was big.
Jordan Sears and Dji Bailey
  • Sears credits McMahon for giving him some halftime adjustments which helped him in the second half.
  • Bailey said they were just trying to keep their heads sane during half time and figure out a defensive identity in the second half.
  • Sears said he likes to think he's strong for his size, which allows him to get to the basket as an undersized player.
  • Bailey came on a visit and loved the coaching staff, so thought it was an easy decision once he got down here. Sears said McMahon continued to talk to him all offseason and built a big relationship with him.
  • Said they see Cam Carter go off in practice everyday, so they knew it was only a matter of time before he went off.
  • Bailey prides himself on being the glue guy. He wants to do whatever the team needs whether that's scoring, rebounding or play making.
