- Feels like they can win multiple different ways. Showed that today.
- Said Milam had a tough fall, but he got going and has been playing well recently.
- Said everything was working for Luke. Felt he threw more strikes than were called.
- Loved what he saw from Fidel Ulloa. Said his outing was outstanding. Said a friend of his told him to look at Ulloa in the portal, and when they talked, he liked his personality and got it done. He was on an official visit somewhere else when he committed to them.
- Felt the conditions played into the poor hitting today as well as CA’s great defense.
- Says getting HBP is a big part of their offense.
- Has a grouping of guys they can go to tomorrow, but needs time to figure out who’s starting tomorrow.
- Calls Hayden a big part of their team and thinks it’s so huge to have him back this year.
- Said the infield was all over the place today. Also felt Hayden played well at catcher.
- Said coach Yeskie called a great game.
- Likes to work fast as a pitcher. Feels it helps keep him warm.
- Said “it was worth the wait” to start today.
- Couldn’t ask for more from his defense today.
- Coach Johnson told him to take that 1st and 3rd situation pitch by pitch and not worry if the guy from third scored, but he said he wasn’t going to let him score and struck out the next three.
- Called today a dream come true. Getting his first start in Alex Box.
- Said it was a big step coming to college, but put on some weight and find ways to put the ball in play. Said the pitching was the biggest step up from high school to college.
- He learned he was going to start today at 10:30/11am. Jay chimes in saying he told him weeks ago, but Milam said he didn’t.
- Calls baseball a game of failure. You’re going to fail more than you succeed. That’s what he’s learned the most from the vets in the dugout.
- Says drawing walks and getting on base has been his strategy his whole life. He’s small so it makes it easier to draw walks
- Said growing up he’d always see LSU games, so he’s had his eye on LSU for a while.
