  • Always going to celebrate winning, but there are some lessons to be learned from those final few minutes.
  • He didn't come to LSU to celebrate 9-9 in conference play, but says 23 months ago, LSU didn't have a basketball program (essentially no players, no coaches), but he's proud of the steps they made. It was the second biggest jump in league wins in all of power five basketball.
  • Thought Hunter Dean's three down seven was huge and started their run. They got more aggressive on defense too and forced some turnovers.
  • A lot of the things you saw from Hannibal tonight is why he recruited him. The toughness, athleticism, physicality and competitiveness. Thinks he's the reason they went 5-2 in their final seven games.
  • Said Mike Williams was fantastic and gave them a great spark on offense.
  • Says Mississippi State kicked their butt in here. Said they need to be much better when they face them in the SEC Tournament on Thursday.
  • When they limit the second shot opportunities and limit their turnovers, feels they're hard to beat.
Hunter Dean and Trae Hannibal
  • Hannibal says they were getting punked early on, but they locked in and turned it around in the second half.
  • Thinks Mike Williams's performance tonight showed his maturity. He has grown as a player and has become a threat on offense and defense. Dean says he's really smart for a freshman.
  • Thinks they're at their best when they get out in transition. We saw that flashy play they made in the second half.
  • Thinks the close games they've been in this season will help them in tournament play. Those games are usually close and scrapy.
  • Hannibal says coming from Murray State to here has been life changing. Says it's been frustrating at times, but it's been fun.
  • Dean says it's been hard work since he got here because he had to face Will Baker every day. Says nothing here is given.
  • Dean says he'll remember this game for the rest of his life. To be recognized as a senior and the player of the game (by coach) at his dream school is something he'll remember forever.
  • Calls Miss State a tough team. They "out-punked" them. They're looking forward to getting another shot at them.
