gents, in our 2-day pounding of Vandy (21-5) our RPI has moved from 37 to 30 to 24. win today and we are in the top 20 and a lock to host.
I went back and looked at each SEC season since the 64-team, Super Regional format started in 1999 and compiled some info. If you are 16-14, you get in every time. lots of 14-16 and 15-15 teams have been left out since 1999. finally, teams as low as 13-17 has slipped into the tournament a few times and one 12-17 team. this was due to high RPI and just not enough good teams available for the tournament.
So, we are now in at 16 conference wins per the 23-year history of the current tournament format.
Additionally, we are currently 16-13 and auburn is 16-12. if we win and auburn loses, we lockup the #4 seed and avoid the dreaded single-elimination first round. Auburn cancelled one SEC game so in this scenario, they would finish half a game (16-13) behind LSU (17-13).
Sam Dutton gets the start (1-1, 3,63 ERA). Let's complete this historic sweep of Vandy and lock up a regional! Geaux Tigers!
