When Miles first came to LSU he was brought in because he ran a wide open score happy offense at OSU. It was expected that he would retain that offense. For the most part under Jimbo we remained an offense that scored points. The first year under Crowton with Jimbo's playbook we remained the same. If you watch those games we used our offense and personnel to dictate to the opposing D how that team would play against us. Since 2008, when Jarret Lee had the second best FR year in LSU history with a D that utterly failed the team, Miles has not been the same on offense. He crawled into a shell and has never come out of it.
Last night was the epitome of the problem with Miles. He has completely lost the ability to use his offensive personnel and player groupings to dictate to the D how the D will play the game. Miles simply says this is what I do and I dare you stop it. He recruits well enough to beat most teams in most years by lining it up and punching it forward. Against Saban, however, Les is done. Saban recruits specifically to beat LSU and he out recruits LSU.
Miles is a good man and a good coach. He has lost his ability to change and adapt. He is who he is. He will keep winning 10 games a year but he won't beat Bama. The job at LSU is to beat Bama. Five straight losses is unacceptable. Miles needs to graciously bow out and retire while he is still at the top.
