The last few games of last year and again this year shows that our football program may be regressing into mediocrity. It was an embarrassing exhibition of football. The continuing problems in the last three games are: Thirteen penalties in tenth game of season a totally undisciplined team, complete and continuing poor tackling technique, tacklers shying away from making shoulder tackles and rather tackling with their arms and tacklers leaving their feet to make a tackle causing long gains or touchdowns,,Chinese fire drill on sideline getting play in to the QB causing the QB to be under pressure before the snap is made and keeping him from getting into a rhythm, offensive play too predictable especially in goal situations (the offensive goal line play against Arkansas was embarrassing, frustrating and atrocious) ETC. ETC, ETC.,I distinctly remember the pre Saban and Miles years.I and a few good friends would go to the majority of the home and away games. WE had a good time even with the losing seasons that we went through. But Saban and Miles spoiled us with good coaching and quality athletes. I believe we want to continue to be spoiled. Perhaps the changes in present day football has passed Miles by. The problems I have listed above, and I am sure fellow posters can add to this list, caused me to paraphrase one of my old favorite songs, (oh dear what can the matter be) As many posters have pointed out a lot of coaches do a whole lot more with poorer facilities and less quality athletes. Could the"matter" be a change of the head coach or the replacement of some of the position coaches and coordinators. I don,t know, but the "matter" is troublesome, worrisome, concerning and needs to be addressed quickly and efficiently
