Generally the only teams we marginalize more than those w e beat are those that beat us. The consensus on our 3 opponents thus far can be summarized as a bad Auburn team and mediocre Mississippi St. and Syracuse teams. In the long run that may be entirely true and I can't say that I disagree.

I sometimes like to do a "cluster analyses". A cluster being the opponents you have played. LSU's cluster is Auburn, MOO U, and the cuse. The analysis is to look at the record of teams in your cluster in games played outside your cluster. For instance, Syracuse is 3-1 with its only loss being in the cluster to LSU so they have a 3-0 record outside the cluster. Mississippi St. is 3-1, with its only loss to LSU and one win against Auburn, so they are 2-0 outside the cluster. Auburn is 2-2 with losses to Moo U and LSU, both in the cluster. So even Auburn is 2-0 outside the cluster. Bottom line LSU opponents are 7-0 outside our cluster. (I love using that word so many times.)

Interesting observation is that no team ranked higher than us can claim a better "cluster record". I eliminate FBS teams from a team's cluster. I include games against FBS teams in determining a teams out of cluster record.

Ohio St. cluster is 7-5
Michigan St. cluster is 6-5
Ole Miss cluster is 5-4
TCU cluster is 7-2
Baylor cluster is 3-3
Notre Dame cluster is 4-7
UCLA cluster is 7-5
Georgia cluster is 4-4
LSU cluster is 7-0

Yes I was bored this morning. Figured I better post this now as Eastern Mich will bring in 3 losses ruining our perfect cluster record.
