I was talking with a friend of mine and we were speculating on some play-off scenarios that could very likely happen with the SEC. I'd be interested to get some other takes on it.
Let's say LSU beats Alabama but loses to Ole Miss and both LSU and Ole miss win out. Ole Miss is at 10-2 and LSU is at 11-1, but both teams only have one SEC loss and Ole Miss goes to the SECCG to face Florida who also wins out, putting them at 11-1.
If OM wins (now 11-2), does it make the play-offs. Does LSU (11-1)? LSU will have the better record and OM would have a bad loss, but OM would have beaten LSU head-to-head and would be SEC champion.
If Florida wins (now 12-1), does Florida make the play-offs? Does LSU (11-1)? Florida would be SEC champion, but both teams would have one loss and LSU would have beaten Florida head-to-head.
Just some interesting scenarios to consider. After Bama making it despite not playing in the SECCG and then proving they were worthy of being there by winning it all, and with the committee now making informed decisions, things seem to be a lot more wide open.
