First of all, I haven't had time to watch any of the Pitt game film under Canada. I hope to get to it this coming weekend. But it seems that some of the comments from TB members imply/mention multiple formations and personnel groupings. If so, that would be a real change from what we have seen over the past 5 seasons.

However, being the negative Nancy that I am, I admit it brings back bad memories of Crowton. Surely you remember. It was like every offensive series was him trying to prove to any would-be suitors just how tricky and ingenious he was:
> 1st Down --- 4 WRs and an empty backfield
> 2nd Down --- Heavy backfield with 2 TEs
> 3rd Down --- Normal formation, but with Holiday at TB

Every LSU fan I knew hated (and I mean HATED) how Crowton's offense had no continuity to it; no purpose or underlying personality - just a sequence of disjointed formations and play-calls that (I suppose) were meant to keep the defense on their heels.

I was personally very relieved when we brought in Kragthorpe, particularly after watching the interview where he intended to get rid of all of that, and wanted our team to run 20 plays really well, instead of 80 plays just okay.

However, over time, our fanbase (myself included) got tired of the predictability of that offense as well. So I gotta say that I am hopeful that Canada is somewhere in the middle between Crowton and Kragthorpe/MIles/Cameron - and not just a return to the other extreme of Crowton's "desire to dazzle".

Again, I have no reason to think it will be - just what popped into my head after reading someofg today's threads. Not trying to be a downer either, just coming up with a different discussion point.
