Probably the best NFL franchise in terms of winning the last 20 years have been the New England Parriots. With Salary Caps and a Draft system that promotes equality the only way to consistently win is by doing better at roster management and talent evaluation along with coaching.
In college football the NCAA have done much the same with the restrictions on scholarship offers. However one huge gap between universities is $$$ and its ability to hire the best staff and facilities. When you take the top 10 programs in College Football LSU is surely in that group. Teams such as Ohio State and Alabama have now emerged as the top 2 dogs with a couple maybe trying to get into that mix one being Clemson. So if you take a snapshot of the top two what immediately comes to mind??? Super coaches. And if you look a tad further both of the top two coaches and programs do a real great job at managing their roster. Getting great talent and getting them ready to hit the field. In Coach Meyers case he looses his experienced QB and has to rely on a freshman to step in. He then learns he has two freshmen that can play good enough to play for a NC. Both of these programs recruit great players from 1 to 85. Do they all make it??? No. But the talent is deep.
Programs like New England Patriots, OSU and the Gumps are going to win more than others because they do the best job coaching and managing their business. It's a super competitive sport and it takes the absolute best managers if you want to compete for the highest prize.
