Over the summer, Byrd took self-guided visits to Oklahoma and LSU. Both of those visits were trips set up by current commits. Byrd liked both of his trips, but he noted the Baton Rouge visit stuck out most.
“I’d probably say the only difference between LSU and Oklahoma is I have more of a connection with the LSU recruits,” he said. “They are all just cool to me. That’s like literally one of the biggest things to me. I want to be with people I’m comfortable with. Not just the coaches but also the players.”
Byrd’s relationship with several LSU commits and targets have the Tigers in a strong position for the All-American.
“Rae (Raesjon Davis), Keanu (Koht), Korey (Foreman), Maason (Smith). I’m pretty cool with him. Garrett (Nussmeier) of course. Tristian (Leigh) and me are cool too. He’s one of my top guys. I knew Tristian from the Sooner Summit and we all just got along.”
