This article makes a couple of interesting points.
First:
"Since and including the 2011 BCS championship game, Miles is 0-for-10 in games as an underdog. Yet, in that span, his teams have managed to lose six games in which they were favored."
That is a stat I’ve never heard. If true, it is extraordinarily damning in my opinion. Pokertiger, you would know; is this true?
Second:
"Miles said part of the problem with LSU's latest offensive struggles were injuries, particularly to the starting tight end and fullback. If your entire offense collapses because a loss of a tight end and fullback, then you need to reassess your recruiting."
If Miles really said this, it proves he’s simply out of touch AND making lame excuses. Out of touch because our O is always bad. These latest struggles are exactly that; the LATEST in a long running series of struggles. No doubt losing Gordon and Moore didn't help. However, to blame this level of offensive ineptitude on an injured TE and FB is crazy. We are ten games into the season with at least three scholarship TEs and three scholarship FBs available and yet we cannot find an adequate solution? Wow. Every team has injuries; Baylor and Mich State each won key games with their second string QBs. And, if anything, we're overstocked at TE and FB every year.
I hate to see this sad end; we are imploding. I hope there's a quick and favorable (under the circumstances) resolution for the players and fans.
