My guy just text me that the main reason Austin was willing to come back is that the abrupt AD change at SC was a game changer for everyone there, Austin included. When Pat Haden suddenly stepped down, everyone was thrown for a loop. Then, when Lynn Swan, a lifelong 'Trojan man' was brought on board, Austin's role as Asst AD was no longer assured. Lynn made it clear he was going to bring in his own guys, Austin reached out to Les, and the whole thing came together VERY quickly.
