...drop back five DB's and force everything to be thrown underneath the coverage. I watched UT play Leach's team at Tech for ten years and dropping five DB's back is the only way to consistently beat a Leach coached-team. You have to change your defensive philosophy once a year and just wait to pick off one or two passes and stop them on 4th down once or twice a game. This philosophy depends on the offense being able to march down the field against his teams which have been historically easy to do. Every team in the SEC will be doing this going forward or Mississippi St. will continue to upset teams with more talent.
I think Leach is one of the best coaches in the NCAA despite all his weirdness. Y'all will enjoy him, but always be aware his teams are really good at what they do - taking what the defense gives them. He will throw the ball 50-70 times a game and will be successful doing so. To beat him, you just got to force turnovers. In retrospect, LSU just prepared didn't put out the right defense - Pelini has never seen anything like Leach's offense. I'm sure he won't repeat the same mistake again next year and his defense will be great going forward in the SEC.
That's my take. Geaux Tigers!!!
