I've been a big Les Miles fan over the years, but this may be his last year at LSU if he picks Jennings as QB.
Jennings may indeed be the best QB opening day, but if Jennings starts and LSU loses to Moo St or Auburn, it will put both LSU and Miles in a tough spot. IMO, anything less than a 10 win regular season will put Miles head on the chopping block. Unless Jennings plays substantially better than last year, everyone will blame Miles and CC for the choice of Jennings as QB. Jennings will get blame as well, but no one will be surprised if Jennings struggles again in 2015. 48% completion percentage is definitely not good enough, and IMO I think Jennings will have a hard time in the SEC completing over 50%................55% at best.
It would seem that Miles would give Harris first shot, if only because Jennings had his chance last year. If Miles starts Harris and Harris falters, fans will say Miles needs a new OC and QB. If Jennings falters, fans will say Miles and CC should be fired for starting Jennings to begin with.
It is obvious Miles will not be influenced by the fans. However, the LSU Board of Directors should have some influence here. The new contracts to assistants spoke loud and clear about where the board stands. If Miles does not show good judgement in 2015, LSU will make changes.
