Last night was an eye-opener for this team. Florida turned out to be damned good and we should have killed them but for some mistakes;
The Good:
1. Lewis Neal has become a beast on defense. I think he had double digit tackles last night as a DE.
2. I still think Arden Key will be a force in games to come
3. What else can you say about Harris? He had 189 yards and 28 points in the second quarter. His accuracy and decision making have improved dramatically, plus he has some wheels. His TD pass to Dupre, while probably an ill-advised throw was about 50 yards running to his right and throwing across his body to the middle of the field. Plus, his other TD throw to Dupre showed the touch he has never had. Next on my wish list is to see him throw a good screen.
4. The play action has become lethal. While not technically play action, UF crapped their pants when Fournette lobbed it back to Harris.
5. Special teams, while horrible, is easier to fix. I have a feeling that will get a LOT of work in the next three weeks. We'll also see some different athletes there.
6. The return of Mills cannot be overstated. The guy is a quarterback on defense.
7. Fournette is so feared, every team will have 11 guys looking at him on the snap. And for the first time, we seemed to really take advantage of that with some pretty creative play calling.
8. We have the road graders and back up running backs to wear ANY team down and that includes Alabama. O-Line has been unreal.
The Bad:
1. We are still thin at LB. If Beckwith goes down, God help us.
2. Our DB's can't seem to figure out (maybe LB problem) how to cover a tight end. We have been burned several times this season by wide open TEs.
3. We still give up a lot of 3rd and long completions. Mills will help.
4. Kicking was better last night, but Keehn needs to figure out how to kick or find someone else. While he kicked it a long way on the TD return, it was too low and didn't give our gunners time to get down there.
