Yante Maten scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Georgia to a 93-82 victory against LSU in a Southeastern Conference game at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens on Saturday afternoon.
GAME-DECIDING STRETCH
The Bulldogs took control of the game in the final minutes of the first half. A 3-pointer by Tremont Waters tied the score at 28-28 with 5:42 remaining before halftime. However, Georgia went on a 12-3 run over the next four minutes to build a nine-point advantage. Maten had a field goal and two free throws in that stretch for Georgia. Rayshaun Hammonds also had a basket and two foul shots. The Tigers were 1-of-7 from the field with two turnovers in this span. The only LSU points came on a free throw by Waters and a field goal by Daryl Edwards. The Bulldogs had a 45-34 lead at halftime. The Tigers never came within ten points until the final minute of the game.
