Here is a recap of yesterday's recruiting chat. It lasted pretty much all-day, and could be difficult for someone to scroll through for the info they want. I tried my best to pull the key questions and responses from the discussion. I will link the article form of the recap and provide the text below.

sopsher...what's up? you've got the same bama insider on tos who called surtain jr. saying sopsher is a done deal to the gumps. you guys feel the same?

I don't think it's a done deal with him either way. Alabama is certainly in the top group, and will be difficult to hold off, but LSU is in striking distance. I am almost 50/50 on this right now.

Iam concerned about our quality depth at one position and that's RB. Make me feel better? Lol.

And IMO I think we need a better and more consistent punter.

I think the RB situation is being overhyped. Jeremy Hill and Kenny Hilliard weren't great backs, but they certainly looked like it when LSU controlled the line fo scrimmage.

You are correct--LSU doesn't have an elite back right now, but I think they do have enough talent on the roster to run behind what I believe will be a really good offensive line.—Jimmy

I think depth is a serious concern for LSU this year. I would not sleep on Edwards-Helaire, who has been the buzz of camp last summer and this spring. He's not a true workhorse, but he could thrive with 15-ish carries. I wouldn't be shocked to see a heavy dose of Curry to balance out the touches, but at least 3 backs will be involved in the fall.--Sam

Welcome Jimmy, I'm confused with what's going on in this place. First Mike was here and now he's gone. It seems that Clayton has set up shop and layed down claim for the new website as Supreme Leader.

Sorry about the abrupt nature of the change. This site is under new ownership now, and we plan on being here awhile. Clayton was the first to greet us and has been very welcoming. He wants his name changed, too. CatahoulaTiger I believe.

Not at all. I really believe it's a close race between LSU, Texas A&M and Alabama, and a source in Amite said it seems likely at this point LSU will win out. Another source said that the Aggies may be a bigger threat than Alabama. What this will boil down to is who offers his older brother, Rodney, a JUCO DL, the best opportunity. Rodney camped at LSU in June with Ishmael.—Sam

Jimmy, we know the game is won at the LOS, I think the OL is going to shape up into being a forcce, but how do you feel about the DL and outside pash rush?

The front 7 is as good as any in football. Fehoko and Lawrence at the 4-techniques. Ed Alexander in the middle with either Tyler Shelvin or Glen Logan getting involved. I think Dare Rosenthal is a freshman that see time, too. Devin White will command the defense, with Jacob Phillips, Tyler Taylor and Damone Clark competing for the No. 2 MLB job. Then, a heavy dose of edge-rushers starting with K'Lavon Chaisson, Andre Anthony, Ray Thornton and another Ferriday boy in Dantrieze Scott expected to make some noise.—Sam

I have been seeing that Ray Parker is likely headed to JUCO. Are yall hearing the same? Do you think Coach Cregg gets anymore OL in this class?

How do you see the DB board playing out?

I've heard grades are an issue, so it may come down to what he can do to boost those before December/February. LSU does not want to give away spots to non-qualifiers, so we'll see how that situation develops. I think LSU would love a true LT in this class to bolster this OL haul.

The top option, IMO, was Jeffery Carter, who just popped to TAMU. That leaves names like Raydarious Jones or perhaps a new offer. Five may be a good enough haul for Corey Raymond to work with, especially with Stingley, Banks and Miller, a JUCO guy that can play corner or safety. I don't expect Devin Bush or Chester Kimbrough to join this class as crowded as it is.—Sam

Parker's academic situation appears to be one that needs monitoring. I think the kid has a boatload of talent, so they are certainly going to monitor it. It could end up being a sign-and-place deal if LSU has a spot, but I do not see that being the case at this stage of the process.

I see LSU making a big play for Raydarius Jones to fill the last spot at CB. Raymond was extremely high on him, and with Jeffrey Carter catching them off-guard with his commitment to A&M, he likely became that much more important.--Jimmy

It was my understanding that Palmer & Lee weren't supposed to announce until the end of the month which makes me wonder!

In light of the recent setback; anyone think the CEO urged Palmer and Lee to announce early in order to get some mo back to trending in an upward direction?

Trey had been ready to commit for a few weeks now. Devonta has maintained he'd like to wait a little bit longer, and there will always be a spot waiting for the Amite 4-star ATH—Sam

How could Coach O keep the top prospects in state?

He's doing a pretty outstanding job so far, with maybe one exception ....—Sam

so, with spots as tight as they are, we going to give him a preferred walk-on offer with the promise he gets a schollie the following year? i can't imagine we're going to give him a full ride at this point...especially not if pickering is truly in play the way we've heard. lot of chatter all we need to do to flip him is get mom and dad on campus for the official.

LSU doesn't typically just dish out scholarships to siblings just to land 1 kid. Most schools don't follow that protocol. Like I said, a PWO spot is a possibility. The Sopsher Family will evaluate all of Rodney's and Ish's options at the end—Sam

Sam or anyone. Am I the only one very Excited about the QB commitment from Bama? Parrish. I really like this kid. Of the guys we were after I think he is a Difference Maker.

He truly impressed me at camp. Dual-threat QB often are not accurate, especially on the run. They are more project-type prospects. Parrish was absurdly accurate, which helped him earn his offer from LSU. I have a story on Parrish in the arsenal and it shows the type of young man and football player he is.—Sam

What about LeGendre decommiting? Are we interested? Is he interested?

No need to pursue LeGendre with Parrish on board, but it would not surprise me to see Lance visit a few times as a Plan B for the Tigers—Sam

Jimmy/Sam, a lot of people are not happy with Robinson and think his recruiting skills are overrated and lacking. What are the chances he's still the RB coach next year if he misses out on Emery (already committed obviously) and Cain heads elsewhere? Happy to be apart of the community. I know you guys are going to kill it.

Great question. If LSU missed on BOTH John and Noah, then it would certainly cause some drama. T-Rob and Coach O have been best friends for decades, so it would be a difficult decision for Ed to cut his guy. The next few months loom large, but there's a lot of reasons to believe T-Rob will win out with 1 of these RBs in the end.—Sam

I found it interesting that he flirted with the Cleveland Browns opening in the offseason, and I believe he is entering the last year of his deal, excuse me for knocking some rust off my shoulder. If he misses on Cain and Emery, that would not work in his favor when it's time to sit at the table. But Orgeron has a good relationship with Robinson, and he has done some good things since joining the staff. That's about as much as I am willing to speculate about a coach's job, if you don't mind.--Jimmy

I think the defensive line could be a dominant group. This is a group of tough, tenacious football players, with solid depth pretty much everywhere. This is a nasty, old-school bunch that is really going to get after it. I think Rosenthal could even be a big contributor by the middle of the season.

I agree with you about the offensive line, but I am concerned about the right tackle spot.—Jimmy

I think Lee is the most likely to choose Bama of the three Tangi guys and Lee is a strong lean to LSU at this time.

I assume you meant, Sopsher is the most likely to choose Bama, which I would agree with at this stage.—Jimmy

Jimmy, Devonta Lee's stock seems to be dropping from where it was a year ago. Did he gain too much weight? What's his upside at WR?

He looks more like a big safety or really, an OLB at this point. He could still play WR because of his absurd athleticism, but he may be best suited for another position, assuming he continues to grow—Sam

He's worked himself into the athlete category, which makes it difficult for people to make projections they feel comfortable with. I am starting to think he may be best served as an outside linebacker. The kid is a solid 220-plus right now.--Jimmy
