2015 hasn't even started and I'm already looking ahead to 2016, the year LSU makes a run at the National Championship.
Offense.
QB: should be a position of strength in '16 . A veteran QB will be running the offense for sure. Either a 3rd
Year starter , Senior Jennings or Harris after an entire year running the 2015 offense. Or the Purdue transfer, or
McMillan or Felipe Franks.
RB : Pick your poison . Fournette Jr, Williams Jr, Guice So, Brossette So. , or Devin White . Imagine when
a 5* RB , White , may be 5th string. The talent here is crazy.
WR : hard to see Travin Dural leaving early. If he stays the entire WR corps returns intact. Talent here is
even deeper than RB. In '16 they'll be veterans.
TE: not a position of strength like the other skill positions on offense. Smith will be a Senior and poised for a
stellar campaign after a breakout year in 2015. After that a 2nd TE needs to step up. Foster Moreau ,
jacory Washington.
OL: ah, now the mystery. Start with best case scenario. Pocic and Hawkins both return to become Senior
bookend tackles , The best twosome in America. An experienced Will Clapp at center . Boutte and
any one of several talented candidates at the other OG.
Since that isn't likely ...Pocic returns to play LT. Bouttee slides out to RT . Clapp at C . Malone , Brunfield , or Tehemua at OG. Still a darn good OL.
Defense.
DE: No early NFL for Bower and Neal . Both will be Seniors , Arden Key makes the big improvement fron Fr
to Soph year. Lots of veteran depth with Tehemua and Clark . Don't sleep on those incoming true
freshmen as well .
DT : Senior , Lacoutre , anchors the DL. Devon Godchoux, after an All-SEC 2015 give LSU the best DT
tandem in the SEC. Same picture as DE....veteran backups Gilmore and Herron plus those super
talented incoming freshmen.
That goes us 3 seniors and a Junior starting on the DL.
LB : now it gets iffy. Riley is the only veteran returning as Beckwith takes his game to the NFL. Voorhies at
one OLB . MLB ...no Clifton Garrett. Can't imagine starting a true Fr , Fowler at MLB. We feel the pain
of poor recruiting in 2016.
CB : White probably leaves early or maybe not . No worry CB will be in good hands with Paris and Tolliver.
S : two veterans Adams Jr and Jefferson Sr. Pretty good pair IMO.
Special teams . Will have to break in a new pair of kickers and long snapper .
