Tackle Joe Evans tells me he's eyeing a return to Baton Rouge this spring and has already spoken to new head coach Brian Kelly and some of the new strength staff. He has not yet met with Jamar Cain, the new DL coach.

Evans said he's expecting to come back at either nose or 3-tech.

"I'm ready to get back to work," he told me this afternoon. "Excited to see what this season has in store for me."

In his 16 games played for LSU, 28 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and .5 sacks.

In October, Ed Orgeron told reporters he expected Evans to be out the rest of the year as he was taking some time away from the team. At that time, Evans told me it was not because he was pursuing a singing career.

Evans was ranked a three-star by Rivals coming out of Haynesville.
