Rivals and Pro Football Focus have teamed up to bring you the most detailed breakdown of LSU games each week of the season.

The Tigers (6-0, 2-0) finally made the stops needed to close out previously undefeated Florida (6-1, 3-1) to claim a 42-28 victory this week and climb from No. 5 to No. 2 in the latest AP poll.

Here's how the Tigers' top performers stacked up against the Gators.

Man in the middle
Tyler Shelvin continues to become an increasingly imposing force in the middle of the defensive line.

The sophomore played a career-high 62 snaps against Florida and recorded an overall defensive score (78.6), as well as marks in run defense (78.1), pass rush (68.7) and tackling (73.3), all among his best.

Not missing a beat
LSU finally welcomed starting defensive ends Rashard Lawrence and Glen Logan back from injury.

The duo came off the bench in reserve of Neil Farrell Jr. and Breiden Fehoko, but played nearly as many snaps.

Logan earned his highest marks of the season in his return — 74.0 overall defensive, 75.9 tackling, 73.6 in run defense and 65.4 in pass rush — in 34 snaps

But Farrell once again recorded the highest scores of any defensive end: 75.5 overall, a team-high 79.6 in run defense and 77.2 in tackling.

Freshman ups and downs
Derek Stingley Jr. and Marcel Brooks each struggled for stretches only to rise to the occasion for critical plays in the red zone in the fourth quarter to help clinch the game.

Stingley's recorded a 60.4 defensive grade and 59.2 in coverage — both season lows — after allowing eight receptions in 12 targets (66.7 percent) for 103 yards (8.6 yards/target) and a touchdown.

By comparison, the freshman cornerback had only allowed 10 receptions in 27 targets (37.0 percent) for 152 yards (5.6 yards/targets) and one touchdown.

Stingley finally swiped an interception in the end zone, though, to preserve a lead and return the ball to Joe Burrow and the offense to provide some breathing room.

He has now caught an interception in each of the Tigers' past three games.

Brooks recorded his own modest grade (63.0) in 14 snaps, but easily his highest pass-rushing grade (72.4) with his first career sack to help disrupt and shut down a Florida third-down attempt.

Defensive tackle Siaki "Apu" Ika recorded the best grade of the four freshmen to play Saturday (67.0) thanks to solid tackling (70.1) and run defense (67.2) marks, but only in limited action.

Ika played a season-low 11 snaps, as Shelvin continued to garner increased playing time up front.
