Hypothetical question for all of you LSU ADs out there .

You must hire a new HC for LSU . You have these requirements :

1. You want someone who will be around at least 8-10 yrs.no having to
make another hire in 3 years

2. He must have the ability to lead LSU to a national Chanpionship

3. He must be a good fit for Baton Rouge , La., and LSU.

4 . He must be a current HC of an SEC school . No selecting Coach
Orgeron allowed

You go down your list .

Saban . Check boxes 2-3 but not 1
Luke . Unproven so you pass on him
Malzahn . A possibility . He's been to the title game twice
Sumlin . He's got more resources than LSU, had a Heisman QB And still.....??
Bielema . The face of the LSU program ?? Perhaps not.
Mullen . A possibility . Has done OK with little talent but....

Muschamp . Former Texas coach in waiting had best job in the SEC at Fla and O
Jones ..nice group of 5 coach but SEC is a different animal .can't win the SEC least
Stoops ...maybe the best choice of all despite lack of resources
Mason ..former Stanford defensive whiz . Can he win a NC?
Mc Elwain ...good fit in Tigertown ? Hmmmm
Odom ...needs more seasoning before he's shown NC potential
Smart ...he certainly checks all of the boxes . Probably best choice

Conclusion : the SEC is a conference of very very mediocre HCs with the exception of Saban.
Saban is an outstanding coach for sure but his coaching competition is weak.
Despite being the highest paid other conferences have much better HCs .
The SEC is dominant because they have better talent not coaches .
